Ellerslie Village Brick Trail

September-October, 2020

Between Saturday 26th September and Sunday 11th October, participating businesses in Ellerslie had LEGO on display in their shop windows.

Kids came along and walked through Ellerslie Village and went on a hunt for some amazing LEGO displays!

There was also an incredible prize giveaway – those people who could simply tell us the names of three shops in Ellerslie where they found LEGO displays went into a draw for a LEGO set valued at $250.

Online Entries closed on Sunday 11th October.

All LEGO displayed has been kindly supplied by the All Blocks LEGO User Group.

Alex Blong’s Pirates vs Star Wars Epic LEGO battle display 

June, 2020 – Forty Hour Famine fundraiser.

All Blocks LEGO User Group member, Alex, with the help of a few other members set up this Pirates vs Star Wars epic LEGO battle display.

The purpose was to encourage people to donate money to Alex’s Forty Hour Famine fundraiser. During the three weeks the Pirates VS Star Wars epic LEGO battle displayed, Alex raised over $500 which was donated to the Forty Hour Famine charity.

Brick Madness – Blockhouse Bay School Holiday Programme

24th January, 2020

All Blocks LEGO User Group assisted in the Blockhouse Bay Community Centre school holiday program at the start of the year.

Annette and Lisa Brown hosted two half-day workshops where children from the local community could build freely from barrels of LEGO.

Bricks4Kidz Grand Opening Day

22nd September, 2019

All Blocks LEGO User Group supported Bricks4Kidz grand opening of their new premises in Albany, on the North Shore of Auckland.

Bricks4Kidz is a proud sponsor of All Blocks LEGO User group.

Ellerslie Fairy Festival and Pirate Party

9th September, 2019 (extended into a month-long event called Magical September)

All Blocks LEGO User Group supplied pirate-themed displays to several businesses along the main street of Ellerslie village.

Christchurch Brick Show

All Blocks member Michael Howell attended the Christchurch Brick Show. He looked after Hayden Pickford’s kakapo model. David Wardle also exhibited his Queen Victoria cruise ship at the show.

MakeX Robotics Competition

All Blocks LEGO User Group’s supported the annual MakeX Robotics competition. 

David Wardle has been reviewing a book  Building Smart LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Robots   written by seventeen year-old Kyle Markland.

David had seven Mindstorms robots on display including all six of Kyle’s creations.

David met up with Hayden Pickford. They are the creators of New Zealand’s two most popular LEGO Ideas projects: Hayden’s Kakapo and David’s Queen Victoria Cruise Ship.

Auckland Museum – Brickman Treasure Hunt

13-29th April, 2018

Several LEGO models, designed and built by members of All Blocks LEGO User Group, were hidden throughout Auckland Museum during the April school holidays.

This was a Treasure Hunt where each model had one letter that eventually spelt the word “Brickman”.

The Treasure Hunt reached over 5000 Auckland children in the two week holiday period.  It was one of the most popular Treasure Hunt events held at Auckland Museum.

HamLUG – LEGO® Fan Expo

7-8th April, 2018

Every year HamLUG hosts a LEGO Fan Show to raise funds for the Autistic Society. Several All Blocks LUG members travelled south to Hamilton to participate in this worthy event.
